School Improvement Consulting
Mental Health First Aid Training
I have experience in a variety of educational settings. I have an unusually wide experience of school improvement and particularly of teaching and learning: strategically (previously across a local authority with all stages and phases and trans Trust in all regions),tactically (in schools with Principals and senior leadership teams) and operationally (with departments and individuals).
My focussed work on coaching and mentoring individuals has led me to become a qualified, and Ofqual regulated, Mental Health First Aid Instructor. Level 1 and 2 courses can be offered to staff and students aged over 14 years and training focuses very much on identifying a range of mental health conditions, knowing how to provide practical advice, understanding the role of a mental health first aider and knowing how to implement a positive mental health culture in the work place.
I firmly believe that help and support and the right signposting can make a huge difference to the mental health and wellbeing of staff and to the life chances of many of our harder to reach young people.
These courses are accredited, and so young people can achieve credits towards modules that they maybe pursuing in Further Education; this qualification is approved and administered by First Aid Awards (FAA) and regulated by Ofqual.
Further Support can then be provided around policy making and action planning and planning personalised mental health and wellbeing programmes in a variety of settings.
