SAS Cancer & Chronic Illness Month

Each month, we celebrate the wellbeing services provided by our nurses and the impact it has on school staff around the country. We are also working to raise awareness and start conversations about personal wellbeing in an effort to help encourage staff to seek support but to also raise awareness about statistics relating to that wellbeing service.

February is Cancer & Chronic Illness Month here at SAS and World Cancer Day Is February 4th.

Recent statistics show that there are around 363,000 new cases of cancer in the UK every year. That is around 990 cases per day.

Our in-house nurse team can offer support to you if you have received a diagnosis of cancer or a chronic long-term condition. This can be a vital line of emotional support during a very difficult and confusing time. Additional Complementary therapies can be made available to assist with the physical/psychological symptoms which can accompany such a diagnosis. If your school or academy accesses SAS staff absence insurance or our wellbeing only service, this confidential service may be available to you at no additional cost.

If you or someone you know has been affected by cancer and you are in need of emotional support or have queries about symptoms or treatment options, our nurses can help support you Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30 on 01773 814 403.
