Elisabeth Holmes

Online one-to-one mental wellbeing support for school staff

I was a primary school teacher for 25 years and although I loved the job, I found it emotionally overwhelming, especially when combined with a busy family life. Eventually all the spinning plates dropped off so I sought out some hypnotherapy sessions which helped me regain my confidence and strengthened my resilience. It also ignited my resolve to support school staff in similar situations so that they would be able to cope with the daily demands more effectively.

After training with the National College for Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, I qualified as a hypnotherapist in 2016. Initially, I ran my therapy practice alongside part-time teaching but now I am a therapist full time supporting clients with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression and low self-esteem.

As well as seeing clients on a one-to-one basis, I go into schools delivering Stress Management training and speak at conferences including those for School Business Managers and Headteachers.

Following one of my presentations, I was asked to provide support for a member of school staff experiencing stress and anxiety. I have since worked with many different members of staff at different schools. Their issues are often work-related but not always and they appreciate the non-judgemental, confidential service that I can provide. My own experience in schools and my availability on request has enabled staff to be seen promptly by someone with empathy and understanding.

To enhance my skills, knowledge and understanding of psychotherapy I have subsequently qualified as a hypno-psychotherapeutic counsellor so now I am able to offer an integrated approach to ensure personalised, effective support. I am also a certified online therapist so can see clients from across the UK. I am registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council.

I can provide the necessary wellbeing support when it is needed most, allowing clients the time and space to express themselves freely and learn useful strategies to build future resilience thus reducing future staff absence.

Testimonials

“I first met Elisabeth at one of the LASBM conferences and was so impressed decided to keep her details on file. We take the wellbeing of our staff seriously and are proactive in supporting them. We have now used her services on a number of occasions. The feedback is always positive and she makes such a difference that other staff comment on the evident changes. I would highly recommend her.”

“Elisabeth presented at a business manager conference that I attended and had the whole room captivated. She gave us techniques to identify signs of stress and gave us some strategies to cope with it. She speaks in a calm and clear manner and listens intently when people speak. I have been more than happy to refer a number of staff to Elisabeth who have had a variety of needs that Elisabeth has been able to meet. One member of staff described her as a ‘miracle worker’; she didn’t know what she had done, but it worked! I would recommend her to any organisation that takes staff well-being seriously.”
